Pilot Project "Anti-Discrimination Counselling for Students" (10/2017 -08/2021)

The pilot project Anti-discrimination Counseling for Students supported students in the context of discrimination from October 2017 to August 2021 (Project Funding: University Quality Funds).

The counseling service was aimed at students from all faculties who had experienced discrimination at the university. In particular, students who experience disadvantages or discrimination due to racist attributions (e.g. in relation to appearance, (supposed) origin or religious affiliation, name or language) were addressed. The anti-discrimination counselling also advised students on trans*-related issues. On request, student initiatives and interested students who are concerned with the topics of discrimination, criticism of racism or empowerment were also supported. Teaching staff and academic support staff received information on various forms of discrimination and appropriate ways of dealing with it.

Since winter semester 2024, the university has once again set up an anti-discrimination counseling service. The counseling service is aimed not only at students (including UMG) but also at employees and members (e.g. as visiting researchers, lecturers) of the university.
