Erasmus+ PhD Shorttermmobility - Outgoing

1. PhD with student status

Are you enrolled at the University of Göttingen but not in a contractual relationship with the university? Then you can apply for short-term physical mobility.

  • Short-term mobility Internship lasting 5–30 days (optionally with a virtual phase) at an Erasmus+ partner university, in a company, research institution, NGO or school located in a programme country. Internships in Germany and EU institutions are excluded.
  • Short-term mobility Study for a period of 5–30 days (optionally with a virtual phase) at an Erasmus+ partner university in a programme country. Information about our partner universities can be found in the Gö Abroad exchange database. The agreements do not always include PhD mobility, so please feel free to contact us in such cases.

The selection is made in cooperation with the graduate schools and the Göttingen International department, with five places available per call.

  • Application deadline 15 February 2026 for stays ending by 15 June 2026.
  • Application deadline 15 June for stays ending by 30 November 2026.

    The funding for the physical phase of a short-term mobility (minimum duration: 5 days; maximum duration: 30 days) is as follows:

  • 5 – 14 days x 79,00 € / day
  • 15 – 30 days x 56,00 € / day
  • In addition, travel days (1-6) may be subsidised, depending on the choice of transport (sustainable/non-sustainable) and distance (according to the EU Distance Calculator; the starting point is always Göttingen): Please note that subsequent changes (upon acceptance of the nomination) are no longer possible. It is the responsibility of participating students to keep the relevant evidence (e.g. train tickets) for 5 years and to make it available to the Göttingen International department upon request (e.g. in the context of financial audits).

  • 10-99 km: non-sustainable travel 28€ / sustainable travel: 56€
  • 100-499 km: non-sustainable travel 211€ / sustainable travel: 285€
  • 500-1999 km: non-sustainable travel 309€ / sustainable travel: 417€
  • Social Top up for students who belong to one of the following groups:

  • mobile learners with a chronic illness
  • mobile learners with accompanying child/children
  • mobile learners who are first-generation academics, i.e. whose parents or guardians do not have an academic degree

2. Contractual relationship with the sending university

Are you enrolled at the University of Göttingen and employed by the university? Then you can apply for teaching mobility.

  • Teacher mobility (usually 5–10 days, min. 8 hours of teaching): This requires an inter-institutional agreement (Erasmus contract) between the universities, including agreed teacher mobility. Information about our partner universities can be found in the Gö Abroad exchange database.
  • Teacher mobility in combination with training (usually 5–10 days, at least 4 hours of teaching): This requires an inter-institutional agreement (Erasmus contract) between the universities, including agreed teacher mobility.
