Wordforge – Creative Writing Group
Wordforge was founded in the summer semester of 2025 by three students from the English Department at the University of Göttingen. Our aim was to create a welcoming space for anyone interested in creative writing, where students can share their work, exchange ideas, and connect with like-minded people.
Our current organising team consists of Sofia (right), Aida (middle), and Irina (left), who work together to create engaging and inspiring sessions for everyone interested in exploring their creativity.
We meet every Monday during the semester at 6 PM. Our meeting room may vary from semester to semester, so please check Stud.IP or our Instagram page for the current location. Each session focuses on a different theme, with creative writing prompts and exercises designed to encourage experimentation and inspire new ideas. Many of our activities are collaborative, allowing participants to exchange perspectives and explore different approaches to writing. We also provide optional weekly writing assignments for those who would like to continue working on their writing outside our meetings.
At the beginning of each session, participants have the opportunity to share their own writing with the group, whether to receive constructive feedback or simply to share something they have been working on. These contributions do not have to relate to the week’s theme, and there is never any pressure to read aloud. Anyone who prefers not to present their own work can ask a member of the organising team to read it on their behalf.
In addition to our regular meetings, we aim to organise public readings and smaller get-togethers throughout the semester, both independently and as part of events hosted by the English Department.
Whether you have been writing for years or are just beginning to explore creative writing, Wordforge welcomes everyone who enjoys storytelling, poetry, and creative expression!
