Research Associate:
I am a geodesist and geoinformatician with a focus on GIS, remote sensing, and the analysis of spatial data. My particular interest lies in environmental topics and exploring how Earth observation data can be utilized for the protection and monitoring of our ecosystems. For several years, I worked as a remote sensing expert in the project "Ecosystem Accounting," where I developed nationwide data products used to assess ecosystem condition and performance. Through the creation of new data products and analytical methods for the entire country, I have also delved deeply into issues of scalability and parallelization. Recently, I have been exploring topics in deep learning and developed a computer vision-based approach for detecting scattered fruit orchards. I am a strong advocate of open source and therefore primarily work with Python and QGIS. As a geodesist, I am also particularly interested in surveying-related topics.
