Graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Social Sciences on November 14, 2025
On November 14, 2025, the Faculty of Social Sciences held an academic ceremony to bid farewell to its graduates from the summer semester 2024 and winter semester 2024/25. The guest speaker was Marcel Riethig, alumnus and county administrator of the Göttingen county. Three individuals were honored for outstanding academic and doctoral achievements: Salman Bin Satriya for the best BA thesis, Antonia Hock for the best MA thesis, and Thomas Stieber for the best dissertation. Colloquium: Diversity-sensitive perspectives in research on right-wing extremism: theory, methodology, and practical application
The Institute for Diversity Research invites you to two lectures as part of its institute colloquium in the 2025/26 winter semester. Joint AI statement by the Faculty of Social Sciences
A cross-status working group consisting of students and faculty members has developed a joint statement entitled “Standards for the use of AI tools in studies and teaching at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Georg August University of Göttingen.”

Dissertation defense and habilitation dates
Approximately 10 students complete their doctorates at the Faculty of Social Sciences each year, and 1-2 people obtain their habilitation. The dates of public university disputations and lectures can be found here.
