Subject of research and teaching in Public Economics is the analysis of public policy by means of economic methods, focusing on


  • what effect public actions like taxation, welfare work or learning opportunity have on private households and enterprises, and

  • how public decisions are made within a political process (including e.g. politicians, votes, media).
